Hi Seb,
only one or two replies to the poll since Anthony compiled the responses, these have been forwarded as well, I think you guys can make your decisions based upon the final Excel spreadsheet that Anthony prepared.

Cheers.

Dave you are right i think those who were interested and who are prepared to be in team event has posted on here so Anthony and Seb make your decisions.

I am also praying for no rain either Dave but i have shot canberra nearly every year for 25 years in Full bore and every day is a lucky dip.

cheers Les

Seb,

I have only one more vote since the last spreadsheet and with 20 repsonses in, the majority votes is

Team Selection - "Random"
Number per team - 4
Light Gun / Heavy Gun - "Combined"
Number of Teams "As Many as"
Average was $21 - Majority $20

I would say that it is up to you Seb, the golden rule is that he who puts in the gold makes the rules.....  You decide and we will help you administer it.

Cheers

Anthony

Re: Team vs individual Fly match?

Thanks you Dave & Anthony!

I think we all (can) agree with combined, 4 shooters per team, $ 20 entry fee.

Now for the team selection.... from 19 or 20 responses 10 prefer random, 7 prefer chosen, 2 or 3 dunno or maybe.
I know it's a TOUGH consideration. If there are 70% prefer random and just 30% or so prefer chosen, for instance, then it would be an easy task, but this is almost half - half...
How if (your thought?) I vote for chosen...?

I think I'll let Stuart & Les to decide, as I'm just an outsider myself!
*Stuart is the main sponsor of this shoot, and from my understanding he knows more about the fly etc than anyone else.
*Les belongs this forum, without him & his forum the team shoot idea wouldn't be exist.

I will follow/agree with whatever the decision will be.

Best Wishes,
seb.

I have spoken to Stuart and he and Annie are far to busy trying to get there rifles ready and do business at the same time.

Seb the whole idea to vote is to get majority is the rule..

Since the votes have come in, this is how I would run the first one.  I do understand that there is a lot of money up for grabs and if random selection was how it is done, then there would not be stacking of the teams and some folks would not enter. I, personally would still enter, as just for me  it is not about the money it is about the event .

Like it or not if the team selection is not a random draw then only a few teams of elite shooters will enter this event.
I for one would not waste my time entering in a team that had no realistic chance of winning and I am certain the majority of shooters would feel the same.
So its a random draw where everyone has a chance or an elite team event for a few thats your choice.

Thanks you Dave for the input!

I have a new idea now... re: team selection (random or chosen)

WHAT IF the team shoot goes to RANDOM DRAW (i.e. main event) - whilst shooters who prefer/enter chosen compete with other chosen teams?
That way - maybe, again maybe, could solve the problems...

Let me explain... (let's assume we still don't know if the majority participants prefer random or chosen, yet)

The money prize ($1,000) will be going to the 'random teams' only --- as it will be the main team event.
Then shooters who prefer/enter chosen will only compete with other chosen teams --- it's as 'side bet' amongst the chosen teams only.

Random team result (main event) can be based on individuals result --- Highest total score for 1st,2nd,3rd place.
Chosen team result may use PVM's conditions on his post 'the challenge' --- One winner takes all. (if there are just 4 or 3 chosen teams only, the prize will be higher than than the 1st place random team main event).

Maybe this is a WIN-WIN solution.... nobody is/will be sacrificed!
That way there's no 'majority' or 'minority', all shooters must be happy/enjoy the shoot!
That way any shooters can enter random,  or chosen, or even both.

........

Your thoughts gentlemen?

Let's do it!!!

Cheers,
seb.

Hello Seb     very good idea
that sorts out any problems some shooters may have
it should get some great rivalry going  in the teams
                  see you in Canberra

Hi Seb this will be my last post on this topic as the shoot is only two weeks now and i will be working on prep for the shoot myself.

The teams event will be a Random draw and Anthony Hall can organise this from the shooters who put in their twenty dollars 4 shooters to form the team.

As for the side betting that Pete has put up that is entirely a different story and for those who are going down that path that is fine however always consider that side betting can bring out the best and worst in people. This is a sport and if the teams who put up $50 up front from each member realises they will do there money cold if they don't win then this is entirely up to you all.

I still think there should be 1st 60% of the prize pool 2nd 20% 3rd 10% and 10% to be drawn from the hat of the remaining teams. Team shooting is about having fun if it becomes so highly chased that shooters become unhappy with the results is it really worth it. I have seen money and percieved elitism wreck sports completely i urge you all to be careful in what you are trying to achieve.

Good luck with the shooting i really hope you all do very well at the Nationals and beleive me at the end of the day when all the dust settles this is truely a great sport lets keep it that way........

cheers Les

No Worries.

I will make up some numbers and a tin, and basically people that want in can pay their $20 per and draw a number themselves from a tin.... That will determine their position on the list and the teams will be in groups of four from the top of the list.

I will also make up some score cards so we can write the team names on them and hand out to keep score for the teams.

$20 per entry, and if you wanted to enter both your light and heavy gun you could enter twice you would then be in 2 teams.

Cheers

Anthony
