Fly Shoot article on 6mmBR.com

Stuart Elliott
Murray Hick submitted an article posted on 6mmBR.com (same as accurateshooter.com) and it is under the section called "daily bulletin". Great article and photos.  Has audio too. Good promotion for "the Fly" internationally.

Hi Stuart   good to see Murrays post on 6mmBR  site   great  write up  -  letting the Yanks know  that we are serious
   about our Fly shooting
I heard that they were also shooting Fly  in the U S A  -  do you know where   -  and where can we find
the scores that they are shooting
it would be great to get a postal shoot with the Yanks going

Re: Fly Shoot article on 6mmBR.com

John,
I really have no idea any more. In the '90s I sent many targets and info into the US to people and clubs that expressed an interest but nothing seemed to go anywhere.
Without meaning any disrespect over there it was a little bit of "not invented here" syndrome.
We did get interest in Sweden and they did shoot some matches. In fact the late Alan Peake shot a match there once during a visit.
They still do shoot 'the Fly' in the UK at Diggle which is a range in central England. Vince Bottonly and the bench rest crew there still shoot the match I believe but it is one annual match. They also shoot short range BR and 1,000 yds BR at that club.
When in South Africa a couple of years back we left a target and info with the guys at Krokodilspruit but still no further contact now.

Glad for anyone else to encourage or develop it Internationally. Over to everyone!

We have had many international visitors over the years come out here and enjoy shooting 'Fly'. It takes a lot to go from that point to starting formal competitions somewhere.

Getting back here to Australia we have a club in Perth, at Pinjar SSAA, that soon will be starting under the guidance of Gary Templeman. Gary hopes to have a team travel to Canberra next March for the Fed cup. Will catch up with Gary next week while we are in Perth for short range Nationals and looking forward to hearing how their plans are going. I think Gary will be joing this forum so will be looking for any suggestions, help and advise from all.
