Batemans Bay Fly Results

Hi,

What a great weekend of competition !!  It was cold and slightly breezy, but ideal conditions for this event.  The atmosphere and camaraderie was excellent, we had a terrific dinner out on Saturday night, and there was plenty of good socialising happening around the fires at the range all weekend.

Full Results are here in both excel versions.  Check the tabs along the bottom for all classes.

There were some great results, including a new range record for small group (0.952") shot by our own Peter Cross, Peter now joins a very exclusive group who have shot sub inch group at 500m.

Heavy Gun and the Centrefire outright win went to Vince Vaina with an impressive 254.04, Les Fraser was only 2 points behind in Second place, and third place in Heavy Gun went to Peter Merriman.  Small Group for Heavy Gun was Vince Vaina at 1.45" and Best Target was Rob Eager with 56.01

Light Gun was won by Rob Eager with 253.03, with Barry Tucker only one point behind in Second place and John Mcquire took third place.  Small Group was Peter Cross with 0.952" and Best Target was Bob Wright with a 59.02.

Stella Cross took the Junior award with an impressive 215.01.

Saturday's major prize was 4kg of AR2208 Powder, this was drawn from the top ten individual competitors, this was won by Bob Wright.

200 Yard Rimfire on Sunday was won by Kathy Dundas with a spectacular 268.03 with Les Fraser ten points behind in second place and Keith Dowel rounding out the top three.  Best Target was Les Fraser with a 58.04 and Small Group was David Dundas with 1.16".

The highest ranked Junior was Keegan Mcgran with 247.04

First Place (Kathy) got a brick of Eley Black rimfire ammo, and a random draw of the next best ten individual competitors saw Cameron Starr win a Brick of Eley Black ammo as well.

The two gun for the weekend was won by Les Fraser, with Barry Tucker second and Glen Aarsen third.

Well done to all the competitors, it was a terrific weekend.

Cheers

Anthony

great result all weekend, Bateman's Bay is certainly attracting large numbers to the shoot. The rimfire event is i think one of the premier events of the year with quality rimfire shooters coming from Sydney and other locations to give it a go. Saturday night at JJ's was a great venue and lots of great discussions took place over a drink or 5.

Our only mishap was Dave Groves was taken to Hospital early Sunday morning with suspected kidney stones so our thoughts go out to you mate to make a speedy recovery. (sorry if i packed your camp swag up wrong i didn't have any instructions)

The food was excellent the marking was nothing short of impressive about 4 to 5 min turn around between details so very well done to the marking crew.

Those who have shot the bay event see's a very well run shoot that is pretty much flawless during the day this only happens with someone steering the ship so congratulations to Anthony for another NSW title  run and won well done.

Look forward to seeing you all again at the next shoot.

Les
shooting well is more a mental control of your thoughts than just pulling the trigger........

Congratulations Anthony and Batemans Bay SSAA Branch on another great shoot, a great time was had by all! Very sad I missed Sunday.

Thanks also to any and all that helped Russ pack up the gear I slackly left lying all over the place...and to Russ for taking my gear home for me. Let me tell you now from experience that kidney stones are no fun, it ended up 3.8mm long but felt line Ayres Rock. All fixed up now though!

Cheers

Just having a look at the scores from Batemans Bay.... must have been a fantastic weekend of shooting. Great results from a lot of participants with 24 shooters scoring more than 220 in the combined centre fire events.

I see Peter Cross shot a sub 1" group & Bobby Wright shot a 59.02...Great Shooting!!

Very well done to the place getters particularly Rob in light rifle & to Vince in the heavy. The competition was obviously fierce.

I see 23 shooters scored more than 220 in the Sunday 200 rimfire...I'll mimic Mike Cockcroft...Holy Crap!!
